Our Story
The agency's roots date back to 1966 when EATA operated the Community Action Program: Neighborhood Youth Corporation. Since then, EATA has managed components of numerous federal, state, county and city funded programs and projects that provide employment and training services in the South Central Wisconsin Region. EATA currently contracts to operate Children First, Windows to Work, Re-entry FoodShare Employment and Training program, Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act Title I components of Adult, Out-of-School Youth and Dislocated Worker programs, the Worker Advancement Initiative (WAI) and LIFT Dane employment services.
Since 1966, the Employment and Training Association (EATA) has cultivated meaningful relationships with local businesses, educational institutions and community based service providers to identify and meet the employment and training needs of job seekers and employers. Through these relationships we have identified areas where there are gaps in job placement and training services and have worked independently and with community partners to develop curriculum that address these needs.
EATA's participation in the Employment and Training Network supports this collaboration with regional partners and training programs. Our goal is to help program participants obtain the skills and experience required to meet our region’s workforce needs. EATA has been successful due to our dedicated employees who strive to help job seekers identify their career interests and goals and encouraging them to take advantage of the EATA services and resources available to obtain employment in high-demand, high-wage occupations.
