Dislocated Worker/Adult Program
The Workforce Investment Act

The Workforce Investment Act (WIA) is a program to aid persons who have been laid-off from their employment due to economic downturn, foreign competition, company mergers or other reasons not related to the person’s job performance. Individuals may also be eligible based on income status.

This program is intended to work with eligible workers to provide resources so they can return to productive employment as soon as possible.

Services may include:

  • Resume and Cover Letter Assistance
  • Job Search Assistance
  • Career Counseling
  • Employability Assessment
  • Employability Skills Training such as Interviewing and Job Application Assistance
  • Classroom Training
  • Support Service Assistance
Eligibility:
 
There are some basic eligibility requirements. You need to provide documentation for: Identity, Citizenship/Authorized Alien Status, Selective Service Registration, Age, and Wisconsin Residency.

An applicant must meet and provide the above documentation as well as:

  1. A dislocation must have occurred in the last 5 years with no recall date and you must have a Letter of Layoff from your former employer.
    -or-
  2. If Income Eligible, you must have proper documentation.
