One Stop Career Centers
Several partner agencies, including the Employment and Training Association,
are co-located at 1819 Aberg Avenue and are part of Dane County’s
One Stop Career Center. One Stop Career Centers are the focal point of
America's workforce investment system, supporting the employment needs
of job seekers and the human resource needs of business.
At Dane County’s One Stop Career Center, job seekers and other
individuals can receive:
- Job seeking, training and educational information and assistance from
veteran representatives and/or employment representatives
- Outplacement services for laid-off employees
- Assistance related to a variety of individual needs, including medical,
financial, housing, child care, food and transportation assistance
- Access to phones, Jobnet, the internet, and computerized resume writing
templates
- Workshops addressing job loss and re-employment, job search, educational
and training opportunities, career exploration, use of the internet
and setting up email accounts, and starting a business
- Assistance with GED/HSED preparation and testing including, reading
and math skills workshops
- On-site interviewing and job fairs with local employers
- Youth-focused programming
- Assistance from Older Worker program specialists
- Madison Area Technical College educational counseling
- One-on-one meetings and assistance from vocational rehabilitation
counselors, for persons with disabilities
- Informational sessions related to non-traditional careers for women
- A Community Resource Guide listing numerous human services within
Dane county
Dane County’s One Stop Career Center Services directed towards
employers include:
- Assistance with the posting of job openings
- Pre-screening and background checks on candidates for employment
- Business-related seminars
- Labor market information
- On-site recruitment opportunities including access to interview rooms
and participation in job fairs
- On-line event registration for job fairs, seminars and clinics
